GALLUP — Funeral services for Raymond Anthony “Tony” Morris Jr., 47, will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 22, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Gallup. A rosary will be recited at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Naschitti. Burial will be in Naschitti Community Cemetery.
Morris died June 18, 2011, in Gallup. He was born Feb. 3, 1964, in Denver, Colo., into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Edge Water People Clan.
Morris graduated from Window Rock High School in 1983. He received his Associates degree from Haskell Junior College. He was employed at Department of Law Enforcement, Jiffy Lube, Ed Corley’s, Gallup Indian Medical Center, Prewitt Generating Plant, and the City of Gallup. Morris enjoyed Saturday morning strolls to Gallup Flea market and weekend shopping at the Rio West Mall. He would campout every year at the Navajo Nation Fairgrounds for the perfect parade spot. He was a loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers since he was 10 years old. He participated in fast pitch and slow pitch softball, league bowling, bull riding, fishing, and novice billiards player.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Begay Morris; daughter, RayAnn Morris; step-sons, Melvin Begay, Marvin Begay, both of Gallup; parents, Raymond D. Morris, Lucinda S. Morris of Naschitti; sisters, Raylene Morris of Naschitti, Lesley Morris-Roberts of Fort Defiance, RaNaye Badonie of Naschitti.
Morris was preceded in death by his brother, Duane H. Morris; grandparents, Harry and Lucy Morris, Tom Morris Jr., Linda Endischee, Leslie and Pauline Sombrero.
Pallbearers will be Melvin Begay, Raymond Badonie Jr., Ryan L. Badonie, Robert T. Badonie, SSgt.-Joshua D. Morris, Ron Bullhorse.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Naschitti Chapter House, following services.
LITTLEWATER — Services are pending for Roman R. Yazzie, 20.
Yazzie died Sunday, June 19, 2011, in Crownpoint. He was born Dec. 14, 1990, into the Black Streak of Forest People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.
